Books Lie
It A Weapon CD - Satellite Transmissions
Books
Lie's debut album, "It A Weapon", is a furious but
fun romp of thrashing punk and anthemic hardcore that harkens
back to the days when playing such music meant things like expressing
individuality, questioning the world around you, and embracing
one's musical community on an all-ages/DIY level - all while
striving to create a good time for all.
With great love and pride for their
Brooklyn, New York home, Books Lie deal with "issues"
through a deeply personal perspective, thus filling their songs
with equal parts passionate emotion and social/political consciousness.
"It A Weapon" jumps out of stereo speakers with aggressive
riffs, frantic rhythms, explosive vocals, and a relentless energy
that pairs anger with humor and an unmatched sincerity. Musically
reminiscent of such disparate groups as Heroin, John Henry West,
Born Against, Negative Approach, and Black Flag. With more spirit
than nearly any band close to them, Books Lie are jolting hardcore
punk into a new century, all the while re-defining it along
the way.
